The Downtown Development Authority has adopted the Main Street concept with the goal of improving historic downtown Monroe. The mission of the program is to enhance the quality of life and develop a positive image of Downtown Monroe for residents, businesses and visitors by promoting cultural and economic growth in the downtown area.
The Four Point approach is built upon the preservation and revitalization of a downtown. The key to success in the Main Street Approach is to carefully integrate all four elements, and work simultaneously in each area. These four elements encompass organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring activities directed at downtown.

This is a program plan, designed to aid the DDA in the revitalization progress. It is essential that the comprehensiveness of the Main Street Approach is understood, and that each area receives the attention that it needs.
